I am attempting to determine a DNS downside, so I’ve received Wireshark put in on a brand new Mac Mini working Tahoe. Drawback is, once I begin up Wireshark on the one energetic interface and add a “dns” show filter, I by no means see any DNS packets in any respect. (I do see all the pieces once I shut off the filter, so I do know it is the fitting interface. And there is just one anyway.)
That is true once I set off a DNS lookup any approach I can consider, together with dig, and it is true whether or not dig returns efficiently or not (i.e., with “www.cnn.com” and likewise with “faux.host.nowhere”).
I’ve set this up on an older Mac (additionally working Tahoe) and it behaves like I would anticipate; lookups present up as DNS packets in Wireshark.
It is trying like my “DNS situation” is that the machine is selecting to not use it by some means, which I do not perceive. Is there some Networking choice which may outcome on this? I do not assume I did something bizarre.
